Wearing their "Daddy" pants - Asiya

My husband received a gift from someone that my boys loved. They were Ninja Turtle pajama pants. What's not to love about that?

So they asked if they could wear them...

Here is Spider wearing his Daddy pants.

And one of Zombie :)

They sure wear them well. ;) hehe

Create a worm farm - Asiya

Something that I am trying to improve my skills in is gardening. As I do this I plan to post do and do not's. Haha!

One thing I did with my sons recently was create a worm farm. Zombie and I were learning about animals that burrow in school and a worm farm is a great way to show them a live example of burrowing.

Also, earthworms are great in your garden! They also are good bait for fishing if you enjoy using live bait.

First, what you will need to create a worm farm is:
  • Earthworms (get them at a fishing store or a pet store)
  • Soil
  • Container to keep the worms in (recycled glass jar)
  • Spray bottle full of water
  • Small scraps of fruits or veggies (I used apple skins and zucchini scraps)
  • Dark paper
  • Tape

I used a recycled pickle jar for my project. Any glass jar will work but if you want to be able to see the tunnels that the worms make, you may want to choose a clear one. Make sure you clean it out really well. You will need to punch a lot of holes in the lid of your container and the set it aside. My husband helped me with that since I am accident prone. ;)

Put a layer of soil at the bottom of the jar and put very small scraps of fruit/veggies on top of that layer. I used apple skin and scraps of zucchini. Then spray the soil until it is moist, not soaking.

Repeat the process until your jar is full of soil.

Add your worms to the top. We counted ours that we bought from Petsmart. We had over 130 in ours! The worms will burrow themselves.

Place the lid onto your jar and then wrap the dark paper around the jar and secure with tape. The worms need a dark, damp environment. Make sure you remember to spray down the soil every couple of days to keep the moisture in. Don't flood them though, I made that mistake once and it killed our worm friends. :(

You can check on the little critters every once in awhile by removing the paper and checking out their tunnels. :) If you need to add some to your garden/take on a fishing adventure - simply get them out! :)

The best way to eat pudding - Asiya

The best way to eat pudding can only be described with a picture of Zuko. Enjoy!

Maybe pudding is a good hair care regimen? Toddlers really keep life entertaining so thought I'd share!

Cake volcano - Asiya

Hello all! I thought I'd start out with a post about my sons love for the show Cake Boss. Some of these posts are things that we did awhile ago, such as this one. I think my oldest was 5 at this time. :) Ah, memories.

Anywho, since we all really enjoy watching that show together the kids wanted to play Cake Boss. They wanted to create a volcano cake. Here they are with the ingredients for our chocolate volcano cake. As you can see here, Zombie, my oldest is ready to rock that cake's face off.

The key to success in any baking adventure is being ready to beat it into submission...

We used the top of our Big Top Cupcake silicone baking set to create the shape for our mountain. Then they frosted it with strawberry icing and used chocolate syrup for lava. What volcano would be complete without sprinkle "rocks"?

I love the ideas these guys come up with for us to do. Their volcano was indeed very tasty.

Meet my 4 little monkeys - by Asiya

Since a great deal of my posts will be related to my kids/parenting, I thought pictures and intros would be nice to share on here. I don't use my children's real names in blog land so in future articles I will refer to them as the nicknames that I name below.

As I had mentioned before in my own quick bio, I have four sons:

Meet Zombie:
Zombie is 7 years old and is in the first grade. He is homeschooled and loves it. Here he is showing off his missing top teeth! He is growing his hair out really long so that he can cut it to donate it to Locks of Love. I believe that kids should be encouraged to have their own "style" that they are confident and so that they can express their individuality. Zombie currently loves science, is not fond of math. He also loves Star Wars, video games and playing with his friends.

Meet Spider:
Spider just turned 5 this month! Here he is at his birthday party. The theme he picked was Kitty Rock Stars so he is sporting whiskers. He will be entering kindergarten next year which he is very excited about. He is very artistic and loves pretending to be a cat. He loves coloring his hair with hair chalks so you can expect to see many pops of color with this little guy.

Meet Zuko:
This guy is two years old and will be celebrating his 3rd birthday within the next couple of months! He is very active and loves anything to do with being outdoors. He has incredible coordination and quite a throwing arm for a little guy. I think he'll probably be the most athletic of my guys perhaps.

Meet Scoots:
This little guy will be 9 months old in just a couple of days. He was born on the exact same day as his brother, Zuko! He currently loves carrots and mango. He is very busy crawling, pulling himself up and using furniture to walk along with. He is a very happy baby and loves getting into anything he can gets his hands on!

So those are my 4 little monkeys. All are a piece of my heart and pretty much my world.

Of course, there is a lot more that I could add to that but we'll get to that later. I really hope that you enjoy this blog that my friend, Ashley and I put together. Being a mother of four can be quite hectic so I hope that some of my tips on organizing, crafts and parenting can be of some help to at least one person out there. Always feel free to leave any questions you have, I'd love to hear from you! Pleasant blogging and peace be with you. :)
